UWTSD is the proud home of the Roderic Bowen Library and Archives (RBLA). The RBLA has in its collections 35,000 early printed works, 8 medieval manuscripts, around 100 post medieval manuscripts, and 69 incunabula.

The RBLA is open not only to researchers but also to all of our students, undergraduate and postgraduate. Students in history and in medieval studies particularly work on the archives and the manuscripts.

One of the researchers is Dr Allan Barton, an Art Historian and Chaplain to the University of Wales Trinity St David in Lampeter. He works on the material and materiality of books focusing on the RBLA.

Dr Barton presents his ongoing work on his blog at Looking Beyond the Text – Lampeter Bookbindings.

Check out his latest post on ODS 00237, and the musical notation manuscript recycled in its binding here.
